National Treasure 3 Script Re-Written?

Thursday, Feb. 13th 2014

National Treasure 3 is actually becoming a reality, albeit a slow drawn out one. Director Jon Turteltaub has announced that he would like to begin filming sometime over the next one to two years. The script was supposed to be written in 2010, it’s now 2014 and it isn’t finished? Most people would be asking themselves will this movie ever start filming?

Director Jon Turteltaub and producer Jerry Bruckheimer were very optimistic with the script at first however half way through it became apparent that it wasn’t going to be easy. Turteltaub told Collider in late 2013 “We want to do the movie, Disney wants to do the movie. We’re just having the damnedest time writing it. I’ll bet that within two years, we’ll be shooting that movie.”

When asked “Do you think it’s something that will still happen?”

Turteltaub replied “I’d say we’re about half-way there,” he continued. “It’s not only writing a great historical mystery, but we’ve gotta write something that has nothing to do with anything we’ve done before. The goal is to always have an original sequel.”

National Treasure: Book of Secrets, was released in December 2007 that’s a long wait for the third installment! Some fans are losing hope but at least here is more certainty that the franchise will soon have it’s third sequel .

Although we are still in the dark about the plot of the movie, some speculate it will be about what the president and Gates talked about in “National Treasure 2″, page 47 in the book of secrets. For now we can only speculate.

Nicolas Cage as Ben Gates? Lets Hope So!

Friday, Jan. 27th 2012

With all this talk around the Internet of National Treasure 3 being filmed right now as we speak it’s easy to get excited and believe the rumors. With the popularity of the first two films one would only assume that the next film is not too far off especially with all the interview chatter over the last couple of years from both Nicolas Cage & Jerry Bruckheimer.

Yesterday in an exclusive interview however Nicolas Cage revealed he had not heard any news about National Treasure 3. This shocking revelation was delivered during a talk with  Empire Online.  Nicolas is also quoted saying: ” it would be interesting to take National Treasure into South America”. This indicates that he has not even read the script and or that the writers have not finished yet.

This opens up questions about who are the actors going to be and when the movie will be made? Strangely enough this could be a diversion tactic to through us off the scent, but only time will tell. One thing is certain a National Treasure 3 is going to be made, whether it is being written now as first thought, or if it is even being filmed yet is unknown. Who will play Ben Gates if not Nicolas Cage? I can’t imagine anyone being able to fill that role like Cage.

Page 47 Secret Revealed in National Treasure 3?

Friday, Jan. 13th 2012

In National Treasure 2 “Book of Secrets” Ben Gates goes in search for the President of the United States’ book… the book of secrets. A non-official book which is supposed to hold coverups by the American government throughout history. In the movie Ben Gates is advised by the President  to read Page 47.  Ironically the information which is contained on Page 47 is never revealed during the movie which leads many to suspect that there might be an answer in the up coming National Treasure 3 movie. There is differing opinions about whether or not the third installment will even mention the book of secrets as some assume the third movie of the franchise will be something completely different.

So is Page 47 going to be a part of National Treasure 3? Is it going to be the starting point of the next movie?

Screenwriters Carlo Bernard & Doug Miro have been quoted as saying the following about Page 47:

“We were asked to start there, so that is where we’ll start. The plan is to start from what’s on Page 47. The idea of the Book of Secrets is spectacular. It’s a great idea. The second movie sort of introduced it and used it as the center of the movie, so it is smart to make the third movie ‘okay, what treasure hunt will come out of the book of secrets’, which is kind of what the end of the movie started.”

From what the screenwriters have said it certainly seems like page 47 is where National Treasure 3 will start from. No one can be sure however and i guess we will just need to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

National Treasure 3 Coming Soon?

Monday, Jul. 4th 2011

It is really hard to digest how long the film makers are delaying the third installment the National Treasure 3. The Franchise though commercially successful is still finding it hard to convince the production houses to press the throttle for this movie  while being occupied in other movies. It makes us wonder how would people be able to relate to a sequel which is released after 7 years from the release date of the original movie.

Will the third movie of the trilogy show us what is in the page no 47? Or will they still extend it to another sequel and another after that? We have to see it us for ourselves. Some people around the world may not be a big fan of National treasure 3 but there are fans who would love to see the sequel as soon as possible. They are the ones who go to cinemas not to think and exhaust their brain but to watch a thrilling treasure hunt movie. Anyone who liked Indiana Jones would definitely can’t deny that they like National Treasure as well. As long as there are fans for such a movie, film makers should not give a second thought about the critics but go ahead and make the movie.

It could be that they didn’t find the perfect script, or maybe the date is just an approximation and the movie national treasure 3 could be released sooner if the filming commences soon and if it completes as planned.

On a funnier side, is the lead actor Nicolas Cage or Benjamin Gates being kidnapped by a tribal group and National Treasure 3 film makers are deciphering it to bring him back to the studio? ;)
